How success rate is mostly referred by most of the IVF-ICSI centres
It differs from clinic to clinic, most of the clinic projects or talks about success as positive Beta-hCG test. A positive Beta-hCG tests [beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) level] usually means that you are pregnant. Pregnancy tests detect the hCG hormone in the blood and urine. This test is generally performed 14-15th day after an embryo transfer procedure. So when a clinic suggests that it has a success rate of 60-70%, it becomes important to clarify that how are they defining the success rate here. The reference here the number of positive Beta-hCG results out of 100 Embryo transfer procedures. But, not all positive Beta-hCG results to a live baby for the couple.

Thus, globally IVF-ICSI success rate is defined as the number of live deliveries per 100 ET procedures. It is alternatively also referred as Live Birth Rate. This is exactly what you should ask to your consultant when discussing the success of an IVF-ICSI treatment.
What is international benchmark for live-birth rate?
International standard for live birth rate is 40% i.e., out of every 100 embryo transfers 40 living, healthy singleton children has born. What is live birth rate after first embryo transfer?
In all women the live-birth rate for the first cycle was 29.5% to 33% across all age groupWhat is cumulative live birth rate up to 4 embryo transfer?
Among women in the UK undergoing IVF, the cumulative prognosis-adjusted live-birth rate after six cycles was 65.3%, with variations by age and treatment type. The CLBR showed an increase with each successive fresh cycle to reach 56.9% (95% CI: 51.2-62.4) after 3 cycles and 67.9% (95% CI: of 62.5-73.0) after 6 cycles.
What is cumulative live birth rate for women in different age group?
The CLBR following 6 cycles reached 69.9% (95% CI: 63.8-75.6) in women younger than 35 years. In women older than 40 years, however, the live birth rate for the first cycle was signifi- cantly low at 3.1% (95% CI: 0.3-9.5) with a plateau in success rates after 4 cycles reaching 21.9% (95% CI: 9.2-40.0).What is the live birth rate for couples with various IVF-ICSI indications?
Couples with different types of infertility had CLBRs ranging from 65% to 72%, with the exception of women with low ovarian reserve, where CLBRs reached 29.4% (95% CI: 10.3-56.0).

Various research article has been able to indicate that embryo transfer up to 3 cycles will lead to success rate up t0 35% to 40% and upt0 six embryo transfer from 52 to 60%.
