What Is Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)?
Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) involves injecting a sperm cell directly into the egg cytoplasm. This method particularly benefits individuals suffering from severe male infertility or couples with a history of failed IVF attempts.
ICSI takes a more targeted approach to overcome the barriers of natural fertilization such as inadequate sperm count, poor motility, or abnormal sperm morphology.
The female partner is put on ovarian stimulation medication to produce multiple eggs for retrieval. The semen sample is collected from the male partner on the same day of egg retrieval.
At Khushhi IVF, we use a medium called Sperm Slow to select a healthy sperm for fertilization. Sperm slow medium contains hyaluronan (HA) which binds to sperm that has a normal DNA.
The embryologist picks the better-quality sperm which is bound to HA with a glass needle and then injects directly into the egg. By exclusively opting for HA-bound sperm during the ICSI procedure, our embryologists ensure a preferential selection of high-quality, well-developed sperm cells. The resulting embryo is then cultivated under optimal conditions before being transferred to the uterus for a successful pregnancy.

4. Embryo Transfer
- With the help of ultrasound imaging, one or more healthy embryos are carefully transferred into the uterus.

- After approximately 2 weeks following embryo transfer, a pregnancy test is done.
